"If it excites you and scares you at the same time, it probably means you should do it!"
A simple quote that often pops up in my Pinterest feed that I always read but never pay much attention to, until today!
This quote perfectly describes the feeling I had today when I finally (and I mean finally, because I've debated it for years) decided to start a blog. Last week I updated my website and wrote an about us page. While I was writing and planning what I was going to say and when & where I was going to insert certain photos (did you see that adorable photo of my boys? Shoutout to Nicor for never disappointing) I realized how much I enjoyed writing!
I've always enjoyed writing but I'm not very good at it. My spelling and grammar, to put it lightly, sucks! (if you follow me on Instagram you've probably already noticed) Which has lead to my fear of writing for people to read for quite some time now. So, i'm just going to point it out before we even start down this road that this blog will most likely, in the words of my high school English teacher, be written just as I would speak and with several grammatical errors. If that bothers you, I suggest sticking to looking at my pretty photos on Instagram & browsing my website.
As with much of my life, this blog will probably be spontaneous, in at least its topic choice but I promise to make an effort to keep it centered around Handmade Hippie Company & whats happening with the business side of things. However, a lot of myself is in my business and most of my products are inspired by my everyday life so I'm sure a little bit of that will seep in from time to time.
As for a schedule on when I'll post? I'm thinking once a week on Mondays. That way it gives me & you (providing after reading this post you decide to come back) something to look forward to on the most dreaded day of the week (even if you plan to only come back just to laugh at my poor writing skills, hey at least you had a laugh right?!?).
I hope that this blog will help you see a little behind our brand and what goes into our products & a little more about me, the maker behind it all. Maybe it'll inspire you to create something yourself or help you appreciate the handmade community a little more. Either way, I finally get to try something new (this is another thing i'm very enthusiastic about, but we'll save that for another blog post) that I've always wanted to try!
PS: I wasn't sure how to end it, so for this week i'm ending it like one of my favorite TV shows & books from my teens, Gossip Girl. I'll get this all figured out eventually.
